What is Moxa Industrial Linux?

Moxa Industrial Linux (MIL) is a high-performance industrial-grade Linux distribution developed by Moxa to help accelerate your industrial projects. MIL is based on Debian 9 and the standard Linux kernel that makes it easy to deploy applications on multiple systems.

When talking about OS support our customers often ask questions such as 'who will do bug fixes and security updates in years to come?'

MOXA will support MIL for 10 years from release which is much longer than the standard 2-3 years offered by the Linux Foundation. Moreover, to demonstrate MOXAs commitment to LTS Linux, they have joined the CIP (Civil infrastructure Platform) – a consortium aimed at providing a long term and stable kernel for industrial applications.

    UC-2100 Series - For data acquisition and processing applications

    The UC-2100 RISC computing platform is designed for embedded data acquisition and processing applications. Equipped with up to two software selectable RS-232/422/485 full-signal serial ports and single or dual Ethernet LAN ports, Moxa’s palm-size series of RISC computing platforms include a range of models suitable for various interface requirements such as single-to-dual serial and LAN ports, Gigabit Ethernet and wireless connections.

    With versatile communication capabilities, users can efficiently adapt the UC-2100 for a variety of complex communication solutions running on an ultra-compact palm-size computer.

    The series includes the UC-2101, UC-2102, UC-2104, UC-2111 and UC-2112

    UC-3100 Series - Smart gateways for data pre-processing and transmission

    The UC-3100 series includes three different models, each supporting different wireless options and protocols.

    With advanced heat dissipation design, the UC-3100 series is suitable for use in extended temperatures ranging from -40°C to 70°C, and the Wi-Fi and LTE connections can be used simultaneously in both hot and cold environments, allowing users to maximise their “data pre-processing” and “data transmission” capability in rugged and harsh environments.

    Additionally, the TPM v2.0 option uses a hardware chip to boost data security, eliminating the chances of a cyber security breach.

    More than just a hardware solution

    For a better user experience, the UC-3100 supports the following software features, allowing you to use the most suitable configuration based on your particular application:
    • High VPN Performance: greater than 70Mbps with AES-256 encryption Ethernet throughput
    • Robust file system to prevent the system from being bricked due to a firmware upgrade interruption
    • Cyber-security auto-config system compliant with IEC 62443 lv.2
    • Real COM mode to provide a control interface with Moxa’s NPort product range

    UC-5100 Series - For industrial automation applications

    The UC-5100 series of embedded computers are designed for industrial automation applications. Featuring four RS-232/422/485 full signal serial ports with adjustable Pull-High/Pull-Low resistors, dual LANs, four digital input channels, four digital output channels, USB, and a SD socket in a compact, front-end access housing.

    To fulfill various industrial applications, the UC-5100 computing platform provides models with dual CANopen protocol supported CAN ports and mini PCIe socket for wireless connectivity featuring a dual SIM design for network redundancy.

    The UC-5100’s vertical DIN-rail form factor makes it easy to install the devices in a small cabinet. This space-saving solution also facilitates easy wiring, making the UC-5100 a great choice as front-end embedded controllers for industrial applications.

    UC-8410A Series - For network and device connectivity

    The UC-8410A RISC embedded computer utilises the Cortex-A7 1GHz dual-core processor from Fresscale and supports a rich collection of communication interfaces, including eight RS-232/422/485 serial ports, three Gigabit Ethernet ports, a mini PCIe slot for a wireless module, four digital input and four digital output channels and two USB2.0 hosts, making it an ideal choice for industrial applications that require network and device connectivity.

    This powerful box PC supports several useful communications functions, without generating too much heat.The on-board 1GB SD storage card and 512MB DDR3 SDRAM memory gives you enough capability to run your application software straight out of the box, whilst the additional mSATA slot, offers users the flexibility of adding additional data storage.

    The UC-8410A comes with Linux Debian 8 pre-installed to provide an open software operating system for program development, making the UC-8410A computer an ideal solution for use with industrial applications, with minimal cost and effort.
