After it became obsolete, our client required a replacement for their existing single board computer which was integrated into custom 3u rack chassis.
The challenge was a to replace their existing Intel Atom N270 solution with a product which would easily integrate into their existing instrument design keeping the same I/O options. Lead time was a factor, as the customer required the initial sample within 2 weeks to allow the tested and calibrated rack assemblies to be shipped to their customer by their deadline.
Impulse delivered the latest Baytrail single board computers which offer increased performance over the N270 whilst reducing power consumption. Most importantly, however, the Baytrail platform gives a long term solution due to Intel's 15 year supply commitment to this particular chipset. Using our fixed build specification and kitting service Impulse packaged and pre-configured the board and sub components as a bill of materials (BOM), allowing our customer to continue to make identical repeat orders in the future quickly and easily, by simply providing their specific BOM code.
