Mental health is an important part of our overall wellbeing and having people within the workplace who feel confident recognising when someone may need support can make a real difference. That's why we’re pleased to share that Natalie Stevenson, Lyndon Edwards and Mark Searle have recently completed Mental Health First Aid training with Cheshire First Aid. The course provides participants with the knowledge and practical skills to recognise signs of poor mental health, approach conversations with confidence, provide initial support and guide someone towards professional help when required. For us, the training is about helping to create an environment where colleagues feel comfortable talking about mental health and know that there are people within the business who are equipped to listen and offer appropriate support. Developing Practical Skills and Confidence Throughout the course, Natalie, Lyndon and Mark developed their understanding of mental health and learnt practical approaches that can be used when supporting someone who may be struggling. The training also focuses on building confidence around starting conversations, listening without judgement and understanding when and where to signpost someone for further support. Reflecting on the course, Natalie Stevenson said: “ The Mental Health First Aider course was extremely insightful and helped me develop a better understanding of how the brain works. It provided me with the knowledge and practical tools needed to help someone feel safe, supported, and informed about the support options available to them. The course has given me the confidence to understand what we can do to help someone who may be struggling, as well as how to recognise the signs that an individual may need support. Simon, who delivered the course, was excellent. His engaging delivery style and expertise made the content both interesting and accessible. I found the course highly informative and thoroughly engaging throughout. I would recommend this course to anyone who is able and willing to access it. Natalie Stevenson, Finance Director Continuing to Build on the Support Available The recent training is another step in strengthening the support available across the business and encouraging more open conversations around mental health. Karen Williamson is also due to complete the Mental Health First Aid course in November, further expanding the number of colleagues who have received dedicated training and can offer an informed first point of contact when needed. We would like to thank Cheshire First Aid for delivering such an informative and valuable course, and congratulate Natalie, Lyndon and Mark on completing their training.
