The ECU-479 is an IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 certified power automation computer engineered for the demanding environments of modern substations. Powered by 13th and 14th Gen Intel Core processors with up to 20 cores, it combines high CPU performance, robust reliability, and advanced virtualisation capabilities to meet the needs of digitalised power infrastructure.
Its fanless, rugged 2U rackmount design supports a wide operating temperature range from −25°C to 70°C, making it suitable for deployment in harsh conditions. The ECU-479 delivers exceptional connectivity with four RJ-45 ports, support for quad 4K display outputs, multiple USB interfaces, and versatile expansion options, including RAID cards, HSR/PRP network redundancy modules, and isolated I/O. Redundant hot-swappable power supplies ensure continuous operation, while Intel® AMT, iBMC, and SNMP support enable secure and efficient remote management.
Designed for mission-critical applications, the ECU-479 is ideal for SCADA systems, substation automation, energy management, and control room monitoring. Its long lifecycle support, optional 10-year warranty, and compliance with global safety and EMC standards make it a future-proof investment for utilities and industrial operators.

Our customer was looking for ways to improve efficiency and reliability, and reduce operation costs and overheads for their manufacturing facility. The initial step in this transformation was to add additional monitoring and measurements to several areas of their facility to allow the collection of usage data from older machinery for analysis. The machinery to be analysed would be located in many areas of the complex, with some sitting in concrete outbuildings far from the source of the main network.
