The Advantech EKI-2525MI is an industrial unmanaged Fast Ethernet switch designed for reliable copper-to-fibre integration in harsh environments. It features 4x 10/100 Mbps RJ45 copper ports and 1x 100 Mbps multi-mode fibre port, supporting transmission distances up to 2 km. By adding fibre connectivity, the switch helps protect against electrical noise while extending network reach across factory floors, process plants, and utilities.
Equipped with auto-negotiation, Auto MDI/MDI-X, and full/half-duplex operation, the EKI-2525MI is easy to deploy and ensures compatibility with a wide range of devices. Each port is fitted with LED indicators for link status, activity, and duplex/collision monitoring, simplifying diagnostics and maintenance.
To maximise uptime, the switch offers redundant 12–48 VDC dual power inputs with reverse polarity and overload current protection. An integrated relay alarm provides immediate notification of power failures or critical events, reducing downtime and improving network resilience.
Built to industrial standards, the EKI-2525MI comes in a rugged IP30-rated metal housing and supports DIN-rail or wall mounting for flexible installation. With an extended operating temperature range of -40°C to +75°C and an MTBF rating above 380,000 hours, it is engineered for long service life in demanding environments such as transportation, energy, and factory automation.
Compact, robust, and fibre-enabled, the Advantech EKI-2525MI offers a cost-effective solution for bridging copper devices with fibre backbones in mission-critical networks.

Our customer was looking for ways to improve efficiency and reliability, and reduce operation costs and overheads for their manufacturing facility. The initial step in this transformation was to add additional monitoring and measurements to several areas of their facility to allow the collection of usage data from older machinery for analysis. The machinery to be analysed would be located in many areas of the complex, with some sitting in concrete outbuildings far from the source of the main network.
