By Jess Dykes News Published 15 October 2026

Long lead times shouldn’t slow your operations. That's why we're pleased to announce the relaunch of VELA: Powered by Advantech, our range of configurable industrial PCs, GPU systems and servers, built, configured, tested and shipped from our facility in Staffordshire, with components held in stock and ready to build.

VELA delivers custom performance at speed, ranging from general purpose industrial systems to scalable, server-grade platforms. With our new online VELA system configurator, specifying an industrial computer tailored to your application is easier than ever. Starting from pre-validated hardware combinations, you can select your preferred chassis, processor, memory and storage to meet your requirements. Further customisation is available, including customer software images, additional expansion cards, specific BIOS settings, branding and bespoke chassis requirements.

Four VELA Ranges, Built Around Your Workload

VELA is split into four ranges, according to the level of processing performance, expansion, graphics capability, memory, storage, networking, and scalability required.

VELA IPC

Covering general purpose industrial computing, our VELA IPC range is well suited for automation, process control, machine and equipment control, HMI and machine vision applications. Available in tower, 2U and 4U formats, VELA IPC gives you a practical foundation for running industrial software, monitoring processes and connecting machinery with wider production systems.

Configurations can include 13th Gen Intel Core processing, industrial DDR4 memory, additional serial and USB connectivity and a choice of storage and operating system options.

VELA Performance

Built for applications that needs greater CPU performance, larger memory capacity, fast storage and extensive I/O, our VELA Performance range combines 13th Gen Intel Core i7 or Core i9 processing with up to 128GB of industrial DDR4 memory and up to 2TB of Gen4 NVMe storage. RAID storage can be specified where extra data protection, storage resilience or performance is required.

Typical applications include test and measurement, high speed acquisition, advanced process control, signal processing and other data intensive industrial workloads.

VELA GPU

Designed for workloads that rely on dedicated graphics or parallel processing, our VELA GPU range is ideal for applications including AI model training, machine vision, visualisation, video encoding and compression, multi-display control and high-resolution graphics.

Tower and 4U configurations leave room for powerful graphics hardware alongside high-capacity memory and storage, making them well suited to large datasets and accelerated processing.

VELA Server

Delivering server class processing with greater scalability, our VELA Server range is equipped with high bandwidth networking, extensive PCIe expansion and options for improved system resilience. Networking options extend up to 100GbE, while selected configurations support registered DIMM memory, RAID storage and redundant power supplies for systems expected to run continuously.

Available in 1U, 2U and 4U form factors, VELA Server is suited to industrial computing broadcast, visualisation, simulation, test and measurement, control rooms, and data acquisition.

The Engineering Behind Every VELA System

We have worked with Advantech for more than 20 years and that partnerships sits behind every VELA system. Through VELA, you gain access to established Advantech industrial computing hardware alongside the specification, configuration, integration and ongoing technical support our team provides here in Staffordshire.

Before a system is delivered, our engineers can install your software image, fit compatible PCI and PCIe expansion cards, apply the settings you need and support remote benchmark testing. Specialist hardware can be integrated at the same time, such as video capture hardware, data acquisition cards, and communication interfaces ensuring you receive a complete system that’s ready for deployment.

For repeat deployments, we maintain consistent system builds, provide supporting documentation and help you plan round product lifecycles and future hardware availability. Our focus on repeatable processes is particularly valuable for industrial projects where systems may need to remain consistent, supported and available over extended deployment periods.

Jash Bansidhar, Managing Director of Advantech Europe, said:

"We are delighted to power the VELA range by Impulse Embedded. There is a sizeable market demand for configurable rack PC systems across the UK. We feel Impulse is ideally positioned to support its customers’ projects, and serve as an essential link between themselves and manufacturing partners like Advantech."
