The ADAM-518-A is the orderable RS-485 version of the ADAM-518 thermocouple input module, designed for industrial systems that need high-density temperature monitoring over a serial communications network. With 24 differential thermocouple input channels, the ADAM-518-A allows multiple temperature measurement points to be connected to a single compact module, helping save panel space, reduce wiring and simplify distributed monitoring system design.
This model communicates over RS-485 and supports ADAM ASCII and Modbus/RTU protocols. The datasheet lists communication speeds up to 115200 bps and a maximum bus length of up to 1200 metres, subject to bus topology and communication speed. This makes the ADAM-518-A suitable for plant-wide or machine-level temperature monitoring where RS-485 remains the preferred communication method due to distance, simplicity or existing infrastructure.
The ADAM-518-A supports K, J, T, E, N, R, S and B thermocouple types, covering a wide range of industrial and environmental temperature measurement requirements. Supported ranges include common process monitoring ranges such as K type from -200°C to +1370°C, E type up to +1000°C, N type up to +1300°C, and B type up to +1800°C. Thermocouple type and input range can be configured through ADAM Utility, helping users set up the module without custom programming.
Measurement performance includes 16-bit resolution, 20 MΩ input impedance and ±0.5°C CJC sensor accuracy. The module supports 10/100 SPS sampling, giving users flexibility between faster update rates and stable readings. The datasheet also details reference accuracy and temperature drift values by thermocouple type, supporting more informed selection for precision temperature applications.
The ADAM-518-A uses 10V to 30V DC power input, with 24V DC nominal input and typical consumption of 1.2W at 24V DC. It includes reverse voltage protection, a system and communication watchdog, ESD ±4kV contact and ±8kV air protection, EFT ±1kV, surge ±1kV and 3,000V DC isolation. The module uses screw terminal connections, with a DIP switch for ID configuration from 0 to 31. With DIN-rail or wall mounting, -10°C to 70°C operation and compact dimensions, the ADAM-518-A is a strong choice for RS-485-based industrial thermocouple monitoring.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
