The MDS-G4012 is a compact modular managed Ethernet switch certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 for use in substations, utilities, and demanding industrial environments. It provides up to 12 Gigabit ports in an ultra-compact chassis, combining high performance with flexible module options.
Each switch includes 4x fixed Gigabit ports and 2x modular slots for expansion with copper, fibre, or PoE+ cards, enabling a tailored port mix to meet application needs. Two power slots accept hot-swappable LV (24/48 VDC) or HV (110/220 VAC/VDC) modules, allowing redundant supplies for maximum uptime in critical deployments.
The tool-free, hot-swappable module design, combined with a passive backplane, ensures minimal downtime and straightforward servicing. The rugged die-cast housing supports DIN-rail, wall, or panel mounting, making it easy to integrate into confined or exposed field sites.
Resiliency features include PRP and HSR redundancy (IEC 62439-3), as well as Turbo Ring, Turbo Chain, RSTP, and MSTP, allowing operators to build zero-time recovery or standards-based networks. IEEE 1588 PTP, combined with IEC 61850-9-3 and IEEE C37.238 power profiles, provides precision time synchronisation for substation protection and control.
The switch also supports MMS/IEC 61850-90-4 data modelling for SCADA integration and includes an intuitive HTML5-based web interface for simplified management across platforms.
With its operating range of -10 to 60°C, flexible modular design, and IEC 61850-3 compliance, the MDS-G4012 is a compact and adaptable solution for substation, transportation, mining, and industrial Ethernet applications.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
