The MDS-G4012-T is the wide-temperature variant of the MDS-G4000 modular switch family, providing reliable networking across extreme climates from -40 to 75°C. Certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613, it is engineered for substations, utilities, and harsh industrial sites where high EMC immunity and rugged reliability are essential.
It delivers 4 fixed Gigabit ports, plus 2 modular slots for interface expansion with copper, fibre, or PoE+ cards. This modularity gives operators the flexibility to configure the switch as an access, aggregation, or compact backbone device. Two power module slots support redundant LV (24/48 VDC) or HV (110/220 VAC/VDC) supplies, maximising uptime in mission-critical applications.
The hot-swappable, tool-free module design allows upgrades and servicing without interrupting network operation. A passive backplane further reduces maintenance effort and improves system reliability.
Redundancy options include PRP and HSR (IEC 62439-3), Turbo Ring/Chain, RSTP, and MSTP, enabling seamless recovery or standards-based network design. IEEE 1588 PTP, combined with IEC 61850-9-3 and IEEE C37.238 power profiles, ensures precise time synchronisation for protection relays and control systems. The switch also integrates MMS/IEC 61850-90-4 data modelling for SCADA compatibility and a modern HTML5 web interface for intuitive management.
With hardened mechanics, flexible modularity, and extended operating temperature, the MDS-G4012-T is an excellent choice for compact, adaptable, and reliable Gigabit switching in substations, transportation, and industrial automation.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
