The TN-4516A-4GTXBP-WV-T is an EN 50155-compliant managed switch equipped with bypass relay functionality for uninterrupted railway networking. It provides 12x Fast Ethernet M12 ports and 4x Gigabit uplinks, balancing local device access with high-capacity backbone connectivity.
Bypass relay technology ensures communication continuity by bridging traffic even during power loss or device failure, supporting critical safety applications in rolling stock and wayside infrastructure. Dual isolated 24–110 VDC power inputs provide redundant supply resilience, while the -40 to 75°C operating range guarantees reliable service under extreme conditions.
The switch is certified to meet the mandatory test requirements of EN 50155 for temperature, vibration, surge, insulation, and ESD, making it rail-ready. Rugged M12 connectors provide shock-resistant cabling, ensuring stability in high-vibration environments.
Network resiliency is enhanced by Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain (<20 ms recovery) and standards-based RSTP/MSTP. Security features such as IEEE 802.1X, SSH, TACACS+, and HTTPS provide strong protection against unauthorised access. Advanced Layer 2 functions include VLANs, Quality of Service, IGMP snooping, Ethernet/IP, and Modbus TCP.
Designed for long-term deployment in trains and rail infrastructure, the TN-4516A-4GTXBP-WV-T combines bypass relay protection, robust M12 connectivity, and proven EN 50155 compliance.

Our customer was looking for ways to improve efficiency and reliability, and reduce operation costs and overheads for their manufacturing facility. The initial step in this transformation was to add additional monitoring and measurements to several areas of their facility to allow the collection of usage data from older machinery for analysis. The machinery to be analysed would be located in many areas of the complex, with some sitting in concrete outbuildings far from the source of the main network.
