The ADAM-518 is a 24-channel RS-485 thermocouple input module designed for industrial temperature monitoring applications that require multiple measurement points in a compact DIN-rail or wall-mounted form factor. By providing 24 differential and independently configurable thermocouple input channels, the module helps reduce overall module count, wiring complexity and cabinet space compared with lower-density temperature acquisition solutions.
Designed for use within ADAM-500 I/O systems, the ADAM-518 supports RS-485 communication with ADAM ASCII and Modbus/RTU protocols. Communication speeds are supported up to 115200 bps, with a maximum bus length of up to 1200 metres depending on bus topology and communication speed. This makes the module well suited to distributed industrial monitoring systems where field devices may be positioned across larger equipment areas, machinery lines, process zones or environmental monitoring points.
The module supports widely used thermocouple types including K, J, T, E, N, R, S and B, with a broad temperature measurement range from low-temperature monitoring through to high-temperature industrial processes. Thermocouple type and input range can be configured using ADAM Utility, allowing setup without dedicated programming. This helps simplify commissioning for maintenance engineers and system integrators.
Measurement performance includes 16-bit resolution, 20 MΩ input impedance and ±0.5°C CJC sensor accuracy. The datasheet lists a 10/100 SPS sampling rate, helping users balance response speed and measurement stability depending on the application. Reference accuracy varies by thermocouple type and range, with many common ranges listed at ±0.5°C at 25°C.
The ADAM-518 supports 10V to 30V DC power input, with 24V DC nominal input and typical power consumption of 1.2W at 24V DC. Protection and reliability features include reverse voltage protection, watchdog support, ESD, EFT and surge protection, plus 3,000V DC isolation. With -10°C to 70°C operation, polycarbonate construction, FCC, CE, RoHS, REACH and WEEE approvals, the ADAM-518 is a practical RS-485 thermocouple acquisition module for industrial temperature monitoring.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
