The EKI-2741LX  is an industrial-grade media converter designed to convert a copper TX Ethernet network to a SC type fibre optic network.

The advantage to fibre optics is wider bandwidth, added EMI immunity, and extended distance transmission. Therefore the EKI-2741LX  is an ideal solution for “fibre-to-the-building” applications in central offices and remote sites.

The EKI-2741LX supports MDI/MDIX auto detection, meaning you no longer have to use crossover wires. Furthermore, the EKI-2741LX will operate in a wide -10°C to +60°C or extended -40°C to +75°C operating temperature range and can accept a wide 12V to 48V DC input. In addition, the EKI-2741LX is designed with 3,000V DC surge (EFT) protection against over-voltage, meaning the media converter is ideal for the harsh industrial environment.

Aside from its standard features, the versatile EKI-2741LX also has the LFP (Link Fault Pass-through) feature. When one side of the link fails, the other side continues transmitting packets, and waiting for a response that never arrives from the disconnected side. EKI-2741LX will force the link to shut down as soon as noticed that the other link has failed, giving the application software a chance to react to the situation.
