The Cisco IE3500 Rugged Series is a family of modular managed industrial Ethernet switches designed for high-bandwidth Operational Technology networks. Combining a rugged DIN-rail form factor with Gigabit and 10 Gigabit connectivity, flexible expansion and advanced network management, the IE3500 is designed for applications including factory automation, machine vision, intelligent transport, industrial edge computing and electrical infrastructure.
Base configurations provide eight Gigabit Ethernet copper downlink ports alongside three fibre uplinks. Depending on the model, the uplinks support either 100 Mbps/1GbE SFP interfaces or 1/10GbE SFP+ connectivity. PoE variants are also available, ranging from PoE and PoE+ support through to IEEE 802.3bt Type 4 power delivery of up to 90 W per port.
A modular expansion architecture allows the base switch to be extended using copper, fibre, PoE or multigigabit modules. Expansion options include eight or sixteen additional copper ports, eight SFP interfaces, mixed copper and SFP configurations, PoE expansion and four 2.5GbE IEEE 802.3bt ports. Depending on the chosen module, total switch capacity can increase from 11 base ports to as many as 27 ports.
For deterministic industrial communications, the IE3500 supports IEEE 802.1Qbu and IEEE 802.3br frame pre-emption, helping reduce latency and jitter for time-sensitive traffic. Network resilience includes Media Redundancy Protocol, Resilient Ethernet Protocol, spanning-tree technologies and IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol.
Security capabilities include Secure Boot backed by Cisco's hardware root of trust, MACsec, IEEE 802.1X, DHCP snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection, IP Source Guard, access control lists and secure management protocols. Cisco Cyber Vision can provide OT asset visibility, while Secure Equipment Access supports controlled remote access to industrial devices.
Management options include an on-device WebUI and CLI, Cisco Catalyst Center and supported Meraki cloud management. Fanless construction, dual DC power input, industrial shock and vibration resistance and wide-temperature operation make the IE3500 suitable for demanding industrial installations.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
