The MDS-G4012-4XGS is a compact, modular managed switch designed for substation and industrial networks that require high-density Gigabit connectivity with 10G uplink capability. Certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613, it provides high EMC immunity and rugged reliability for mission-critical applications.
The switch supports a total of 12 gigabit ports, including 4 integrated 10G SFP+ uplink slots for high-bandwidth backbone connectivity. Expansion slots accommodate copper, fibre, or PoE+ LM-7000H interface modules, enabling flexible configurations for edge access, backbone aggregation, or device powering. Dual hot-swappable power slots accept either LV (24/48 VDC) or HV (110/220 VAC/VDC) modules, providing redundant supplies across various industrial power systems.
The modular, hot-swappable design with a passive backplane simplifies upgrades and servicing while maximising uptime. The rugged die-cast chassis, compact footprint, and multiple mounting options support versatile installation in confined control cabinets or exposed environments.
Resiliency features include PRP and HSR redundancy (IEC 62439-3), as well as Turbo Ring, Turbo Chain, RSTP, and MSTP for standards-based recovery. IEEE 1588 PTP, combined with IEC 61850-9-3 and IEEE C37.238 profiles, provides precision time synchronisation for substation automation and control systems. MMS/IEC 61850-90-4 data modelling and an HTML5-based web interface enable seamless SCADA integration and straightforward management.
With its mix of Gigabit density, modular flexibility, and 10G uplink performance, the MDS-G4012-4XGS delivers a compact yet powerful networking platform for substations, utilities, and demanding industrial environments.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
