The MDS-G4028 is a high-density modular managed switch certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613, designed for substation automation, smart grids, and critical industrial applications. Supporting up to 28 Gigabit ports, it provides the scalability needed for large backbone or aggregation networks.
Each chassis includes embedded Gigabit ports and multiple LM-7000H expansion slots, which support copper, fibre, and PoE+ modules. This flexibility allows operators to configure the switch for access, aggregation, or powering devices such as IP cameras or wireless APs. Two power module slots accept LV (24/48 VDC) or HV (110/220 VAC/VDC) supplies, enabling redundant power resilience in mission-critical deployments.
The modular design uses tool-free, hot-swappable cards with a passive backplane, minimising downtime and simplifying servicing. A rugged die-cast housing supports DIN-rail, wall, or rack installation, fitting into substation control rooms or outdoor enclosures.
Resiliency protocols include PRP and HSR (IEC 62439-3), Turbo Ring/Chain, RSTP, and MSTP. Hardware-based IEEE 1588 PTP supports IEC 61850-9-3 and IEEE C37.238 profiles for precise time synchronisation. MMS/IEC 61850-90-4 modelling and an HTML5 management interface provide SCADA integration and easy configuration.
With an operating temperature range of -10 to 60°C and IEC 61850-3 compliance, the MDS-G4028 provides a scalable and reliable platform for substation and industrial Ethernet applications that require up to 28 Gigabit ports.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
