The Advantech MIC-78M20 is a 2-slot expansion i-Module for MIC-78 Series modular IPCs, purpose-built for users who need additional PCIe connectivity and optional storage expansion while keeping integration straightforward. MIC-78M20 provides a PCIe x16 slot plus a PCIe x4 slot, making it a strong choice for pairing a primary high-bandwidth card (such as a frame grabber or accelerator) with a second interface card for I/O, networking, or control.
As part of the MIC-78 i-Module Series, MIC-78M20 supports PCIe/PCI expansion with PCIe speeds up to Gen5 at the platform level, enabling modern throughput for industrial edge compute builds. To support higher draw cards, the i-Module design reserves additional 12VDC power via an onboard connector and supports up to 85W add-on card power consumption. This is particularly useful when integrating specialist cards that exceed typical slot-only power budgets.
Thermal management is addressed through support for optional system fans and Smart Fan control, recommended when add-on card power consumption rises beyond 45W to maintain stable temperatures under load.
On the storage side, MIC-78M20 includes SATA port and power on the i-Module backplane and supports adding a 2.5-inch HDD/SSD bay via an accessory kit (noting slot occupancy limitations).
For industrial automation, machine vision, and modular edge systems that need two PCIe cards plus practical thermal and power headroom, MIC-78M20 is a balanced expansion option for the MIC-78 ecosystem.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
