The Moxa RKS-G4028-PL-12XGS-T is a modular Layer 2 managed Ethernet switch for industrial networks requiring a high-density 10GbE fibre backbone. It provides twelve fixed 1000/2500/10000BaseSFP ports and two expansion slots, allowing up to sixteen additional Gigabit Ethernet interfaces to be installed. With both slots populated, the switch supports a maximum of 28 ports.
The expansion slots accept RM-G4000-PL-8GTX copper Ethernet modules and RM-G4000-PL-8GSFP fibre modules. This allows the fixed 10GbE backbone to be combined with further RJ45 or SFP interfaces according to the network topology. This model does not support PoE operation with the RM-G4000-PL-8GPoE module. The PoE-capable RKS-G4028-PL-PoE-12XGS-T should be selected where powered Ethernet devices are required.
Hardware-based IEEE 1588v2 Precision Time Protocol supports high-accuracy network time synchronisation. Supported profiles include IEEE 1588 Default 2008, IEC 61850-9-3-2016 and IEEE C37.238-2017. Power utility functions also include GOOSE Check and MMS support based on IEC 61850-90-4 switch data modelling.
Turbo Ring, Turbo Chain, MRP, STP, RSTP and MSTP provide several options for creating resilient network architectures. Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain can provide recovery times below 20 ms across networks containing up to 250 switches, although recovery time is below 50 ms when the port link speed is 1 Gigabit or higher.
Security features include IEEE 802.1X authentication, RADIUS, TACACS+, secure boot, SSH, HTTPS, SNMPv3, access control lists, DHCP Snooping, Dynamic ARP Inspection and IEEE 802.1AE MAC security. The switch is certified to IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2.
The RKS-G4028-PL-12XGS-T operates from -40 to 75°C and complies with IEC 61850-3 Edition 2.0, IEEE 1613 Class 2, EN 50121-4 and NEMA TS2. Its IP40-rated 1U enclosure measures 440 x 44 x 387 mm and weighs approximately 5.45 kg. The stated MTBF is 1,532,844 hours according to the Telcordia standard.
PWR-310 power modules, RM-G4000-PL interface modules and SFP transceivers are purchased separately, enabling the final configuration to be matched to the required supply voltage, media types and port count.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
