The Advantech ECU-579-SSDB is a 2U rackmount power automation server designed for centralised protection, control and computing applications in HV and MV substations. As part of the ECU-579 platform, it combines IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 certification with a robust rackmount architecture intended for reliable operation in demanding power and energy environments. The SSDB variant provides redundant 100-240VAC and 100-240VDC power input, making it suitable for installations requiring flexibility between standard AC infrastructure and high-voltage DC power systems. The ordering configuration is manufactured with China as its stated country of origin.
The platform supports 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors, including compatible Xeon Gold 6238T, Xeon Gold 5218T and Xeon Silver 4209T options. This provides configurations ranging from 8 to 22 CPU cores, allowing system performance to be matched to the required substation workload. Twelve DDR4 ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM sockets support up to 768GB of system memory, providing substantial capacity for applications involving data acquisition, protection systems, control software and virtualised workloads.
Four Intel I210 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces provide network connectivity, including support for BMC, IPMI 2.0 and SNMP remote management. Storage options include up to four hot-swappable 2.5-inch SATA SSDs supporting Intel RST RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10, plus an M.2 interface supporting SATA or NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 SSDs.
The ECU-579-SSDB also offers extensive expansion capability through PCIe x16, x8 and x4 Gen3 low-profile slots. Optional interfaces include additional RJ45 or SFP networking, isolated serial communications, isolated digital I/O, HSR/PRP networking and IRIG-B functionality. Dual hot-swappable 800W redundant power supplies and four hot-swappable cooling fans help maintain system availability, while the -20°C to +60°C operating range provides additional resilience for industrial substation deployments.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
