The Advantech ECU-579-SSDCU is a 2U rackmount power automation server designed specifically for IEC 61850-3 substation environments requiring a 48VDC power architecture. The system combines industrial environmental specifications with server-class processing, memory and storage capabilities, making it suitable for centralised protection, control, monitoring and data processing applications within HV and MV substations. In addition to IEC 61850-3 type approval, the ECU-579 platform is IEEE 1613 certified and supports operation from -20°C to +60°C depending on the selected processor and system configuration.
Unlike the AC/DC variants in the ECU-579 family, the ECU-579-SSDCU is configured specifically for redundant 48VDC input. This makes it particularly appropriate for installations where equipment is powered directly from established substation DC infrastructure. The manufacturer identifies this configuration as a Taiwan country-of-origin model.
The ECU-579 platform supports 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and up to 768GB DDR4 ECC memory across twelve DIMM sockets. Compatible processors listed by Advantech include the 22-core Xeon Gold 6238T, 16-core Xeon Gold 5218T and 8-core Xeon Silver 4209T, providing a range of compute options for different application requirements.
Four isolated Gigabit Ethernet ports provide integrated network connectivity, while BMC, IPMI 2.0 and SNMP support enable remote monitoring and management. Storage capacity can include four hot-swappable 2.5-inch SATA SSDs plus M.2 SATA or NVMe storage. The system additionally provides USB, DVI-D and VGA connectivity and multiple PCIe Gen3 expansion slots.
Optional expansion modules allow further adaptation for power automation applications, including HSR/PRP networking, fibre Ethernet, isolated RS-232/422/485 communications, digital I/O and IRIG-B. Four hot-swappable fans and redundant 800W power supplies help support continued system availability and simplify maintenance in operational environments.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
