The MDS-G4020-L3-4XGS is a modular Layer 3 managed switch that combines high port density, 10G uplink performance, and advanced routing. Certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613, it supports both switching and routing functions for large substation and industrial networks.
The switch provides 16 x Gigabit interfaces via LM-7000H expansion modules, plus 4 x embedded 10G SFP+ uplinks for backbone aggregation. Dual hot-swappable LV (24/48 VDC) or HV (110/220 VAC/VDC) power modules provide redundant supply resilience.
Alongside Layer 2 features, it supports Layer 3 routing functions, including static and dynamic routing, inter-VLAN routing, and multicast routing, enabling it to operate as a compact routing platform in addition to switching.
Resiliency features include PRP/HSR (IEC 62439-3), Turbo Ring/Chain, RSTP, and MSTP. IEEE 1588 PTP provides precision timing in conjunction with IEC 61850-9-3 and IEEE C37.238 profiles. MMS/IEC 61850-90-4 and an HTML5 web interface ensure smooth SCADA integration and management.
With advanced routing, modular flexibility, and IEC 61850-3 certification, the MDS-G4020-L3-4XGS is an adaptable backbone switch for utilities, smart grids, and industrial automation projects.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
