The UC-8600A Series is an Arm-based industrial box computer range designed for embedded data acquisition, edge computing and remote industrial communication applications. Built around an Arm Cortex-A72 dual-core 1.5 GHz 64-bit processor, the series provides a reliable computing platform for industrial systems that need robust connectivity, long-term software support and dependable operation in harsh environments.
The range is particularly well suited to applications that need to connect multiple field devices at the edge. Each system includes four auto-sensing 10/100/1000 Mbps Ethernet ports, eight software-selectable RS-232/422/485 serial ports, four digital inputs, four digital outputs and two CAN 2.0A/CAN 2.0B ports with 3 kV isolation protection. This makes the UC-8600A Series suitable for data acquisition, industrial gateways, transport systems, remote monitoring, machine connectivity and distributed control applications where Ethernet, serial, CAN and digital I/O are required in a single rugged platform.
Storage and expansion are also built into the design. The UC-8600A Series includes 32 GB eMMC storage, a microSD socket and an M.2 M key SSD slot for additional storage. Selected models also support cellular and Wi-Fi 6E expansion, giving users flexible options for remote sites, mobile assets and installations where wired networking is not always available.
The systems run Moxa Industrial Linux 4, based on Debian 13 with kernel 6.12, and are supported with a long-term lifecycle through to 2033. Security features include TPM 2.0, secure boot, host-based intrusion detection, security event auditing, secure update, LUKS disk encryption and recovery to a last known secure state. With a metal IP30 housing, 12 to 48 VDC input, wall-mount installation as standard and wide operating temperature support, the UC-8600A Series is a strong choice for secure, connected and long-life industrial edge deployments.

Signal Interface Display simulator for testing new London Underground signalling system
London Underground signalling engineers required a number of panel PCs for temporary use as in-cab Signal Interface Displays (SIDs) in test trains, to allow the engineers to test the information being sent to the train from the new Thales computer-based signalling system.
