The Advantech ECU-579 is a 2U rackmount power automation server designed for demanding protection, control and computing applications within HV and MV electrical substations. Certified to IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613, the platform is designed to provide the reliability and stability required for centralised substation protection and control systems, while supporting the extended lifecycle requirements commonly associated with power and energy infrastructure. Its -20°C to +60°C operating temperature range, dependent on processor and configuration, makes the ECU-579 suitable for deployment in challenging industrial environments where conventional enterprise servers may not be appropriate.
Built around 2nd Generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors and the Intel C621 chipset, the ECU-579 supports processor options including the 22-core Xeon Gold 6238T, 16-core Xeon Gold 5218T and 8-core Xeon Silver 4209T. Twelve DDR4 ECC RDIMM/LRDIMM sockets provide memory scalability up to 768GB, allowing the system to be configured for compute-intensive monitoring, automation, virtualisation and control workloads. Four Intel I210 Gigabit Ethernet interfaces provide isolated network connectivity, while IPMI 2.0, BMC and SNMP support provide options for remote system management.
For local storage, the ECU-579 supports up to four hot-swappable 2.5-inch SATA SSDs alongside an M.2 slot supporting SATA or NVMe PCIe Gen3 x4 storage. Expansion is provided through two PCIe x16 Gen3, one PCIe x8 Gen3 and one PCIe x4 Gen3 low-profile slot, together with a Mini PCIe interface and a proprietary expansion interface. A broad selection of optional networking, HSR/PRP, serial, digital I/O and timing modules enables the system to be tailored to specific power automation applications.
High availability is supported by dual 800W hot-swappable redundant power supplies and four hot-swappable high-speed cooling fans. Depending on the selected ECU-579 variant, configurations are available for 100-240VAC, 100-240VDC, 48VDC or combined power requirements.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
