The EDS-516A-MM-SC blends copper access with two multi-mode fibre SC ports, enabling backbone extensions up to 4 km while still serving 14 local devices via RJ-45. This balance of copper and fibre makes it ideal for factory backbones, utilities, and inter-cabinet runs where electrical noise immunity and medium distance fibre are required.
The switch supports Turbo Ring/Turbo Chain with sub-20 ms recovery for fast failover, plus STP/RSTP/MSTP for standards-based redundancy. Network control features include 802.1Q VLAN, QoS (802.1p/ToS), IGMP snooping/GMRP, bandwidth control, RMON, and port mirroring. Industrial integration is simplified via EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, and PROFINET transparency, with management via web GUI, CLI, Telnet/serial console, Windows utility, or ABC-01 for backup/restore.
The hardware platform includes dual redundant 24 VDC inputs (12–45 VDC), reverse polarity and over-current protection, and an alarm relay. The IP30 metal enclosure supports DIN-rail or wall mount, operating from 0 to +60 °C. Certification covers EMC immunity (EN 61000-6-2/-6-4), ATEX/CID2, DNV-GL, and IEC shock/vibration.
With 8K MAC, 256 IGMP groups, and a 2 Mbit buffer, the EDS-516A-MM-SC delivers secure managed networking across copper/fibre mixed environments.

Our customer was looking for ways to improve efficiency and reliability, and reduce operation costs and overheads for their manufacturing facility. The initial step in this transformation was to add additional monitoring and measurements to several areas of their facility to allow the collection of usage data from older machinery for analysis. The machinery to be analysed would be located in many areas of the complex, with some sitting in concrete outbuildings far from the source of the main network.
