The PT-508-MM-LC-48 is an 8-port managed Fast Ethernet switch designed for power automation, featuring 6x copper ports and 2x single-mode LC fibre ports. Fibre uplinks extend communication distances up to 4 km, providing reliable connections for substations and industrial sites.
IEC 61850-3 and IEEE 1613 compliance ensure resilience against electrical noise, surges, and harsh conditions. Network redundancy is delivered by Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain with <20 ms recovery, alongside standards-based RSTP/MSTP protocols.
Equipped with dual isolated 48 VDC power inputs, the switch supports redundant feeds, protecting against single-source power loss. Security features include IEEE 802.1X, SSH, HTTPS, and RADIUS/TACACS+, while advanced management includes VLANs, QoS, IGMP snooping, EtherNet/IP, and Modbus TCP. SNMPv1/v2c/v3 and RMON provide detailed monitoring, and configuration is available via web, CLI, Telnet, and ABC-01/02 tools.
With a wide operating temperature range of -40 to 85°C, rugged DIN-rail mounting, and a compact design, the PT-508-MM-LC-48 is ideal for substation automation, utility networks, and industrial applications that require fibre resilience with 48 VDC redundant power support.

Our customer was looking for ways to improve efficiency and reliability, and reduce operation costs and overheads for their manufacturing facility. The initial step in this transformation was to add additional monitoring and measurements to several areas of their facility to allow the collection of usage data from older machinery for analysis. The machinery to be analysed would be located in many areas of the complex, with some sitting in concrete outbuildings far from the source of the main network.
