The EDS-518A-SS-SC-T is a wide-temperature, single-mode SC variant engineered for remote and outdoor links where distance and durability matter. It offers 14 copper 10/100 ports for edge devices, two 100BaseFX single-mode SC ports for long fibre runs, and two combo Gigabit uplinks (RJ45/SFP) for resilient aggregation to a Gigabit backbone.


Uptime is assured by Turbo Ring/Turbo Chain (<20 ms) and RSTP/STP/MSTP. A complete security stack—IEEE 802.1X, TACACS+/RADIUS, SNMPv3, HTTPS/SSH, sticky MAC/port lock, and storm control—pairs with VLAN and quality of service to segment and prioritise traffic. RMON monitoring supports proactive maintenance and forensics.
Built for harsh sites, the unit features an IP30 metal housing, DIN-rail installation, dual 24 VDC redundant power, reverse polarity/overload protection, and an alarm relay for event output. The -40 to 75 °C range fits wayside enclosures, substations, well pads, and exposed industrial panels where heating/cooling is limited.
Typical applications include long inter-building trunks on campuses, rail or highway cabinets, and energy production fields where fibre must traverse long corridors. The combo GbE uplinks let engineers standardise on copper or SFP per location without changing SKUs. EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP compatibility simplify integration with PLC and SCADA ecosystems; PROFINET transparency ensures deterministic automation traffic.

RMA

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).

When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.

Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
