The EDS-518A-SS-SC is optimised for long-distance, noise-immune industrial links. It combines 14 copper 10/100 ports with two 100BaseFX single-mode SC interfaces for fibre spans up to tens of kilometres (using appropriate optics) and two combo Gigabit uplinks (RJ45/SFP) for high-speed aggregation.
It protects availability with <20 ms Turbo Ring/Turbo Chain recovery and interoperable RSTP/STP/MSTP. Security is comprehensive—IEEE 802.1X, TACACS+/RADIUS, SNMPv3, HTTPS/SSH, port lock, and storm control—backed by VLANs, QoS, bandwidth management, and RMON analytics to keep traffic predictable and auditable.
Industrial design includes IP30 metal construction, DIN-rail mounting, dual 24 VDC redundant power with reverse polarity/overload protection, and an alarm relay for event signalling. Rated for 0 to 60 °C, the unit fits controlled cabinets across factories, tunnels, water treatment, and building campuses.
Use single-mode SC when you need long runs between buildings, along pipelines, or across large yards where copper is impractical. The combo GbE ports provide flexible uplink choice and future-proofing; swap in SFP modules to extend reach or change media without altering the switch. With EtherNet/IP and Modbus TCP support, integrating PLCs, drives, and SCADA hosts is straightforward, while PROFINET transparency preserves automation timing.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
