The Moxa NPort 6450-G2 is a secure 4 port RS-232/422/485 terminal server designed to connect legacy serial devices to Ethernet networks while meeting modern industrial security expectations. It is a practical option for plants and infrastructure sites that need to keep proven serial equipment in service, but want to move towards centralised monitoring, secure remote access, and structured network management. The device supports encrypted operation using TLS and SSH, helping to protect sensitive serial traffic in industrial networks and reduce exposure to interception or tampering. 

A key differentiator of the NPort 6400-G2 platform is its security architecture, including Secure Boot to help ensure only authorised firmware can run, plus support for strong certificate and encryption options. The wider series is IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 certified, making the NPort 6450-G2 a strong fit for compliance led environments such as manufacturing, utilities, and transport systems where cybersecurity controls are increasingly expected. 

For connectivity, this model provides one 10/100M Ethernet port and four DB9 serial ports supporting RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485. It supports a wide baud rate range up to 921.6 kbps, including non-standard baud rates, making it suitable for a broad mix of PLCs, meters, sensors, controllers, and serial peripherals. RS-485 commissioning is simplified thanks to software configurable termination and selectable pull high/low resistors, enabling installers to optimise line stability without changing hardware. 

Operationally, the NPort 6450-G2 accepts 12 to 48 VDC input, includes a built in watchdog, and provides maintenance friendly features such as one click log collection and application analysis to speed up fault finding.  This standard temperature model is rated for -10 to 60 degrees C operation and is supplied with a power adapter in the box, offering a straightforward route to secure serial to Ethernet integration.
