The EDS-505A-MM-ST is a managed Ethernet switch designed for industrial networks requiring both copper and legacy ST fibre connectivity. It provides three 10/100 RJ-45 ports and two multi-mode ST fibre uplinks, extending Ethernet communication up to 4 km. This makes it suitable for factory automation, transport systems, and utility applications where ST fibre remains in use.
To ensure reliability, the switch features Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain redundancy (<20 ms recovery) along with support for STP/RSTP/MSTP. Advanced Layer 2 capabilities include VLAN segmentation, QoS traffic prioritisation, IGMP snooping, GMRP multicast filtering, port trunking, and bandwidth management, enabling deterministic traffic handling for SCADA and automation systems.
Operators can manage the switch via web GUI, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio, with proactive alarms issued through relay outputs and email notifications. Security is strengthened with 802.1X authentication, HTTPS, SSH, RADIUS, and TACACS+, protecting the network against unauthorised access.
The rugged IP30-rated housing supports DIN-rail and wall mounting, and the switch is rated for -10 to 60 °C operation. It is certified for EN 50121-4 railway EMC, NEMA TS2 traffic, ATEX/Div 2 hazardous zones, and maritime standards (DNV, LR, ABS).
With MTBF reliability exceeding 1 million hours and covered by a 5-year warranty, the EDS-505A-MM-ST delivers dependable fibre-backed Ethernet with legacy ST support in industrial environments.
