The EDS-505A-SS-SC-T is the wide-temperature model of the single-mode variant, providing three 10/100 RJ-45 copper ports and two single-mode SC fibre uplinks for distances up to 40 km. This makes it ideal for railway signalling, traffic control, and utility backbone networks operating in harsh outdoor environments.
The switch integrates Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain redundancy (<20 ms recovery) plus RSTP, STP, and MSTP support for interoperability. Network optimisation features include VLAN segmentation, QoS traffic prioritisation, IGMP snooping, multicast filtering, port trunking, and bandwidth shaping, ensuring high availability and predictable traffic.
Monitoring and configuration are available through web interface, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio software, with relay alarms and email alerts for fault reporting. Security measures such as 802.1X, HTTPS/SSH, TACACS+, and RADIUS safeguard the network against unauthorised access.
The switch is housed in a durable IP30 metal case supporting DIN-rail and wall mounting. Certified for -40 to 75 °C operation, it meets standards for railway EMC, NEMA TS2 traffic, ATEX/IECEx hazardous zones, and maritime approvals (DNV, ABS, LR).
With long MTBF reliability and a 5-year warranty, the EDS-505A-SS-SC-T delivers secure, long-distance fibre networking in extreme conditions.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
