The EDS-4009 Series delivers compact, reliable Layer 2 switching for industrial backbones and edge cabinets. Each model provides six 10/100Base-T(X) copper ports plus up to three 100Base-FX fibre ports, with options for multi-mode ST/SC or single-mode SC to reach longer distances. Built-in redundancy includes Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain with recovery under 20 ms across 250 switches, alongside RSTP/STP, MSTP, MRP, dual-homing and link aggregation (LACP) to maintain availability during faults.
Security and manageability are first class. The series is IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 certified, and supports role-based access, SSH/HTTPS, 802.1X, ACLs, DHCP snooping, storm control and MAC protections. MXstudio integration streamlines visualised network setup and diagnostics, while SNMPv1/v2c/v3, LLDP, RMON, syslog, email/SNMP traps, port mirroring (SPAN/RSPAN) and fibre check simplify operations. Industrial protocol support covers EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and PROFINET Device. Time-sync is handled by hardware-based IEEE 1588v2 PTP with utility and substation profiles (IEC 61850-9-3, IEEE C37.238).
Switch resources include a 16K MAC table, 1 MB packet buffer, 9,216-byte jumbo frames, four QoS queues, VLAN tagging (up to 256 VLANs), IGMP snooping/querier and rate limiting. A front-panel alarm relay and digital input enable panel or PLC integration. Power is modular: LV models offer redundant 12/24/48 VDC inputs (9.6–60 VDC), while HV models accept a single 110/220 VDC/VAC input (88–300 VDC, 85–264 VAC).
The IP40 metal housing (55 mm wide) supports DIN-rail or wall mounting. Standard models operate from -10 to 60°C; wide-temperature -T models operate from -40 to 75°C. Certifications include EN 50121-4 (railway), IEC 61850-3 / IEEE 1613 (substation), maritime approvals (selected LV models) and hazardous-location ratings (C1D2/ATEX/IECEx, selected LV models).

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
