The ioPAC 6500 Series 65M Backplane Modules are designed for building modular ioPAC 6500 Intelligent Integrated Node controller systems. They form the mechanical and electrical foundation for arranging power, communication, CPU, expansion and I/O modules within the ioPAC 6500 platform, helping users create a flexible RTU or controller configuration that matches the needs of industrial automation, remote monitoring, utilities, transport and infrastructure applications.
A key feature of the 65M backplane module range is its fully modular design. The ioPAC 6500 platform uses a Lego-like mechanical concept, allowing different module types to be combined with minimal effort. This helps simplify system design, deployment and future expansion, especially where projects may need different combinations of power redundancy, communication interfaces, CPU capacity, expansion slots or I/O density.
The range also includes an error-proof 2 x 2 pin grid design. The datasheet specifies that the modules should be assembled in the correct sequence of PWR, COM, CPU, EXP and IO, and the pin grid helps prevent incorrect installation. This is particularly useful in field environments where reliable installation and serviceability are important.
The 65M backplane modules support tool-free hardware installation and a hot-swap design, helping improve operational efficiency and reduce maintenance time. Available models support one or two power modules, one or two communication modules, one or two CPU modules, one or two expansion modules, and two or four I/O modules. All listed models support conformal coating and a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to +75°C, with airflow required above 65°C. DIN-rail mounting is supported as standard, with rack mounting available using an optional kit.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.

Single board computer for use in substation monitoring
Our customer required a small form factor single board computer with wide temperature components and an industrial mSATA SSD for integration into their new substation monitoring product.
