MGate MB3170-G2 is a next-generation 1-port Modbus gateway that bridges Modbus TCP with Modbus RTU/ASCII to modernise brownfield assets without changing existing control logic. It supports transparent protocol conversion or high-performance agent mode, which actively polls serial devices and caches values, allowing SCADA systems to read data directly from the gateway with lower latency and higher throughput. Up to 32 Modbus TCP clients and 32 server connections are supported, providing ample headroom for future expansion. For network design flexibility, the device offers two 10/100Base-T(X) ports that can be configured for Ethernet cascading or dual subnets. Selected models also add 100Base-FX fibre (SC/ST, single-mode or multi-mode) or an SFP slot for long-distance backbone links. Day-to-day work is simplified with an HTTPS web console, discovery utilities and one-click diagnostics that capture all relevant logs and status for rapid troubleshooting. Security is enhanced by TLS 1.2 and SNMPv3, and the platform is developed in accordance with the IEC 62443-4-1 secure development lifecycle. Industrial features include dual 12–48 VDC power inputs, a relay output and DIN-rail mounting. Standard models operate from -10 to +60°C, with -T variants extending to -40 to +75°C; “I” versions add 2 kV serial isolation for noisy environments. If you need a compact, robust bridge between PLCs, drives and SCADA over copper or fibre, MB3170-G2 is purpose-built for the job. (See specs and ordering table, pages 1–7.) Ready to streamline your Modbus integration? Ask us for a matched fibre or SFP variant and a pre-configured build.
