The EDS-508A-SS-SC-80 is a managed industrial switch with six 10/100 RJ-45 ports and two single-mode SC fibre ports capable of transmission up to 80 km. This makes it suitable for applications requiring ultra-long fibre backbones, such as regional rail networks, pipeline monitoring, or wide-area plant connectivity.
With Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain redundancy (<20 ms recovery) and RSTP/STP/MSTP support, the switch ensures continuous uptime. Traffic management functions include VLAN segmentation, QoS, IGMP snooping, GMRP multicast filtering, port trunking, and bandwidth control, enabling efficient and reliable handling of critical SCADA and automation traffic.
Configuration and monitoring are possible via web browser, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio software, with proactive event alerts through relay contacts and email notifications. Security is enhanced with IEEE 802.1X, HTTPS, SSH, RADIUS, and TACACS+, providing robust protection.
The IP30-rated metal case supports DIN-rail or wall mounting. Rated for -10 to 60 °C operation, the EDS-508A-SS-SC-80 is certified for EN 50121-4 railway, NEMA TS2 traffic, ATEX hazardous zones, and maritime standards (DNV, ABS, LR).
With MTBF over 1 million hours and backed by a 5-year warranty, the EDS-508A-SS-SC-80 provides reliable managed Ethernet with extended fibre reach for critical long-distance applications.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
