The EDS-508A-MM-ST is a managed switch with six 10/100 RJ-45 ports and two multi-mode ST fibre ports, extending network reach up to 4 km. It is ideal for plants or infrastructure sites using legacy ST fibre cabling alongside modern copper Ethernet.
It incorporates Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain technologies (<20 ms recovery) plus RSTP/STP/MSTP for standards-based redundancy, ensuring high availability. Layer 2 features include VLAN segmentation, QoS prioritisation, IGMP snooping/GMRP multicast control, port trunking, and bandwidth limiting, enabling deterministic traffic management.
Configuration and monitoring can be carried out via web browser, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio software, while operators receive real-time alerts via relay alarms and email notifications. Security measures include 802.1X access control, HTTPS, SSH, RADIUS, and TACACS+.
Housed in a robust IP30 metal enclosure, the switch supports DIN-rail and wall mounting. Operating at -10 to 60 °C, it is certified for EN 50121-4 railway, NEMA TS2 traffic, ATEX hazardous areas, and maritime standards (DNV, ABS, LR).
With an MTBF above 1 million hours and covered by a 5-year warranty, the EDS-508A-MM-ST is a cost-effective managed switch for hybrid copper/fibre networks where ST fibre is required.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
