The EDS-508A-MM-SC is a managed switch combining copper access with fibre uplinks for medium-distance connectivity. It provides six 10/100 RJ-45 ports alongside two multi-mode SC fibre ports, enabling fibre runs up to 4 km. This configuration is ideal for connecting local field devices to a fibre backbone in automation and transport systems.
With Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain redundancy (<20 ms recovery) and RSTP/STP/MSTP support, the switch ensures robust operation in mission-critical networks. Layer 2 functions include VLAN, QoS, IGMP snooping/GMRP, port trunking, and bandwidth management, optimising traffic for SCADA and automation data.
Management is accessible via web GUI, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio, while relay outputs and email alerts provide proactive fault detection. Security features such as IEEE 802.1X, HTTPS, SSH, RADIUS, and TACACS+ prevent unauthorised access.
The unit is housed in a rugged IP30-rated metal case, supporting DIN-rail or wall installation. Designed for -10 to 60 °C operation, it carries certifications including EN 50121-4 railway, NEMA TS2 traffic control, ATEX hazardous areas, and maritime approvals (DNV, LR, ABS).
With a 5-year warranty and long MTBF reliability, the EDS-508A-MM-SC offers dependable hybrid copper/fibre networking for industrial environments requiring short-to-medium fibre reach.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
