The EDS-508A-SS-SC is a managed switch providing six 10/100 RJ-45 ports and two single-mode SC fibre ports, enabling long-distance backbone connections up to 40 km. This makes it ideal for utility substations, plant backbones, and inter-building links requiring resilient managed Ethernet.
High availability is guaranteed through Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain redundancy (<20 ms recovery), with additional support for RSTP/STP/MSTP protocols. Advanced Layer 2 features include VLAN segmentation, QoS traffic prioritisation, IGMP snooping/GMRP multicast control, port trunking, and bandwidth management, delivering deterministic performance for SCADA and industrial automation.
Management is flexible via web browser, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio integration, with alarms delivered via relay outputs and email notifications. Security functions such as 802.1X authentication, HTTPS/SSH encryption, RADIUS, and TACACS+ protect against unauthorised access.
The IP30 metal housing supports DIN-rail and wall mounting. Operating at -10 to 60 °C, the switch is certified for EN 50121-4 railway, NEMA TS2 traffic, ATEX/IECEx hazardous areas, and maritime (DNV, LR, ABS), making it suitable for regulated and mission-critical environments.
With long MTBF reliability and a 5-year warranty, the EDS-508A-SS-SC is an excellent solution for extending industrial Ethernet over single-mode fibre.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
