The Moxa EDS-518E-MM-SC-4GTXSFP is a managed industrial Ethernet switch equipped with 12 Fast Ethernet RJ45 ports, 2 multi-mode SC fiber ports, and 4 combo Gigabit RJ45/SFP slots. This balanced mix of copper and fiber interfaces enables flexible backbone design and reliable long-distance communication. The switch integrates seamlessly into demanding automation systems thanks to full support for EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, and Modbus TCP protocols.
Redundancy is a central feature, with Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain providing recovery in under 20 ms, supported by RSTP and MSTP for industry-standard failover. These capabilities ensure uptime in mission-critical sectors such as transport signalling, energy distribution, and large-scale manufacturing. Fiber Check™ diagnostics enhance resilience by monitoring optical signal quality, sending early warnings before link degradation affects operations.
Security is comprehensive, with IEEE 802.1X, SNMPv3, RADIUS, TACACS+, HTTPS, SSH, and sticky MAC safeguards against unauthorised access. Engineers can also use VLAN segmentation, QoS traffic prioritisation, and bandwidth control to keep industrial processes predictable and stable.
The rugged metal IP30 housing, redundant 12/24/48 VDC power inputs, and compact DIN-rail design make it suitable for space-constrained cabinets. Its standard operating range of -10 to 60 °C supports deployment in controlled yet challenging industrial settings. Easy configuration is enabled by USB tools such as ABC-02-USB, which streamline backup and firmware updates.
Ideal use cases include factory automation lines requiring fibre uplinks, oil and gas facilities with mixed media infrastructure, and municipal traffic control cabinets. In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
