The Moxa MGate MB3170-G2 Series is a next-generation 1-port Modbus gateway designed to modernise brownfield serial assets by converting between Modbus TCP and Modbus RTU/ASCII, including support for proprietary and extended Modbus serial protocols. It can operate in transparent mode for direct protocol conversion or in agent mode, which actively polls connected serial devices and caches values so SCADA systems can retrieve data with lower latency and higher throughput.
For flexible network design, MB3170-G2 models support Ethernet cascading or dual-subnet architectures, with copper models offering dual 10/100BaseT(X) ports and fibre models available with fixed 100BaseFX (SC/ST, single-mode or multi-mode) or an SFP option for longer-distance links. Day-to-day commissioning and maintenance are streamlined using the web console and built-in diagnostics and traffic monitoring tools.
Security and management features include HTTPS (TLS 1.2) and SNMPv3, and the platform is developed in line with the IEC 62443-4-1 secure development lifecycle. Industrial deployment is supported by dual 12–48 VDC power inputs, DIN-rail mounting and a relay output, with standard and wide operating temperature variants available. Some models also add 2 kV serial isolation for noisy environments.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
