The Moxa ioLogik R1212 is a flexible RS-485 remote I/O module with 8 digital inputs and 8 software-configurable DIO channels, designed for applications that need both monitoring and control within one compact device. For many automation projects, this mixed I/O arrangement offers a more efficient alternative to installing separate input and output modules, especially where panel space is limited or where a simple serial control architecture is preferred. Using Modbus RTU slave over RS-485, the ioLogik R1212 gives engineers an economical and straightforward way to connect field signals and outputs to PLC, RTU or SCADA-based control systems.
The 8 digital input channels are suitable for receiving signals from contacts, switches and basic field sensors, with support for dry contact and wet contact (NPN or PNP) inputs. The module also supports event counter mode on the digital input side, making it useful for pulse-based feedback and simple counting tasks. On the output side, the 8 configurable DIO channels can be software-assigned and used for control duties, helping integrators create compact machine interfaces, annunciation panels and distributed control points without needing extra hardware. The digital outputs are sink type, rated at 200 mA per channel, and support pulse output up to 5 kHz, which expands the module’s usefulness in signalling and pulse-driven applications.
This combination makes the ioLogik R1212 especially effective in machine monitoring, conveyor systems, packaging lines, access control, utilities panels, skid systems and distributed automation cabinets where a mix of input status and output control is needed. Shared series features such as dual RS-485 ports with a built-in repeater, USB-based configuration, remote firmware updating, and 12 to 48 VDC power input also help reduce setup time and simplify long-term maintenance. DIN rail and wall mounting support further improve deployment flexibility.
The standard ioLogik R1212 operates from -10 to +75°C, making it best suited to indoor factory installations, machinery enclosures and general industrial environments where temperatures remain within a controlled range but dependable mixed serial remote I/O is still essential.

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
