The Moxa ioLogik R1214-T is the wide temperature variant of the ioLogik R1214, combining 6 digital inputs and 6 relay outputs in a compact RS-485 remote I/O module built for tougher deployment conditions. It is designed for engineers who need the practical switching benefits of relay-based remote I/O, but in locations where cold starts, hot enclosures or wide seasonal temperature swings make a standard temperature module less suitable. With Modbus RTU slave communications over RS-485, the R1214-T fits neatly into distributed automation and telemetry systems that require dependable field monitoring and relay control.
The digital input channels support dry contact and wet contact (NPN or PNP) signals, allowing the module to monitor common plant and infrastructure status points. The output side uses Form A normally open power relays, rated for 5 A resistive loads at 30 VDC, 250 VAC and 110 VAC, making the unit suitable for switching warning lights, sirens, interposing relays, fans, pumps, small motors, valves and other control loads. This relay-based design makes the R1214-T especially valuable where galvanic separation and broader load compatibility are more important than high-speed transistor switching. It is a strong fit for utility cabinets, roadside systems, pumping stations, environmental control panels and remote alarm or control points.
The module shares the broader R1200 platform benefits, including dual RS-485 ports with a built-in repeater for easier network design and backup strategies, plus USB configuration and firmware management to reduce installation and maintenance effort. It accepts 12 to 48 VDC input power and supports both DIN rail and wall mounting. As with relay-based equipment generally, it should be used in a non-condensing environment, which is especially worth noting in colder sites where condensation can become a design consideration.
The standout advantage of the ioLogik R1214-T is its -40 to +85°C operating temperature range, making it the right choice for outdoor, unheated or high-temperature installations that still require the convenience and load-handling flexibility of relay-based serial remote I/O.
