The EDS-408A-3M-SC offers a fibre-centric configuration with five 10/100 RJ-45 copper ports and three multi-mode SC fibre ports, enabling reliable local access and medium-distance backbone links up to 4 km. This balance makes it well-suited for connecting control rooms to remote automation devices in factories, transport systems, or substations.
With Turbo Ring/Turbo Chain (<20 ms recovery) and RSTP/STP support, the switch ensures network resilience and high availability. Operators benefit from industrial management features, including IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, port-based VLAN, IGMP snooping, quality of service, bandwidth management, and RMON, which allow for the segmentation and prioritisation of traffic for SCADA and automation.
Configuration and monitoring can be carried out via web browser, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio software, while event notifications are available through relay output or email alerts.
The rugged IP30-rated housing supports DIN-rail and wall mounting. Operating at -10 to 60 °C, the switch is tested to IEC standards for vibration, shock, and freefall, and certified to EN 50121-4 railway, NEMA TS2 traffic control, ATEX/IECEx hazardous areas, and maritime approvals (DNV, ABS, LR).
With an MTBF exceeding 1.25 million hours and backed by a 5-year warranty, the EDS-408A-3M-SC is a cost-effective fibre-focused solution for reliable industrial Ethernet networking.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
