The EDS-408A-3S-SC is a managed switch combining copper access with long-haul fibre uplinks. It provides five 10/100 RJ-45 copper ports and three single-mode SC fibre ports, extending Ethernet distances up to 40 km, ideal for plant backbones, inter-building connections, and rail signalling.
Designed for resilience, the switch supports Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain recovery (<20 ms) as well as RSTP/STP protocols for redundancy compatibility. Traffic management tools include IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, port-based VLAN, IGMP snooping, QoS prioritisation, RMON, and bandwidth control, ensuring reliable performance even in complex automation networks.
The EDS-408A-3S-SC is easy to configure via web browser, CLI, Telnet, serial console, or MXstudio, while relay alarms and email notifications provide proactive fault alerts.
Housed in a durable IP30 enclosure, the switch supports DIN-rail or wall mounting. Operating at -10 to 60 °C, it meets industrial certifications including EN 50121-4 railway, NEMA TS2 traffic control, ATEX/IECEx hazardous locations, and maritime DNV/LR/ABS approvals.
With MTBF exceeding 1.25 million hours and backed by a 5-year warranty, the EDS-408A-3S-SC is ideal for long-distance fibre applications in transport, utilities, and factory networks.

RMA
In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).
When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.
Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
