The EDS-408A is a managed 8-port Fast Ethernet switch designed for entry-level industrial networking. All eight ports are 10/100BaseT(X) RJ-45, making it a cost-effective option for copper-based industrial networks where reliability and manageability are essential.
Equipped with Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain technology, the EDS-408A delivers recovery times under 20 ms with up to 250 switches, ensuring network resilience for factory automation, building control, and transport infrastructure. Support for RSTP/STP further enhances compatibility with standard redundancy protocols.
For traffic control, the switch supports IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, port-based VLAN, IGMP snooping, quality of service, and RMON, providing predictable performance and easy monitoring. Configuration and management are flexible, with options via web browser, CLI, Telnet/serial console, or MXstudio integration. Operators also benefit from event notifications by relay or email, which helps reduce downtime.
The IP30 metal housing supports DIN-rail or optional wall mounting, featuring a slim profile that is suitable for cabinets. Rated for -10 to 60 °C operation, the EDS-408A meets key industrial certifications including UL508, EN 62368-1, EN 50121-4 (railway), and NEMA TS2 (traffic control), making it suitable for diverse deployment environments.
With a 5-year warranty and MTBF of over 1.3 million hours, the EDS-408A is a robust managed switch for reliable copper-based Ethernet in industrial automation and infrastructure projects.

8 Port Managed Industrial Ethernet Switch: 8x 10/100BaseT(x) Ports – Wide Temperature Operation
Our customer was looking for ways to improve efficiency and reliability, and reduce operation costs and overheads for their manufacturing facility. The initial step in this transformation was to add additional monitoring and measurements to several areas of their facility to allow the collection of usage data from older machinery for analysis. The machinery to be analysed would be located in many areas of the complex, with some sitting in concrete outbuildings far from the source of the main network.
