The EDS-408A Series from Moxa is a family of compact, managed industrial Ethernet switches designed for entry-level yet mission-critical networking in harsh environments. With a variety of port combinations, including all-copper models as well as options with multi-mode or single-mode fibre SC/ST uplinks, these switches are tailored for industrial control, energy, and transportation applications.

The series supports eight total ports, with models offering up to 3 fibre ports and the remainder as 10/100BaseT(X) RJ-45. Fibre options extend transmission distance up to 40 km on single-mode links. All ports support auto-negotiation, whole/half-duplex operation, and MDI/MDI-X for flexible cabling.

Designed for redundancy, the EDS-408A integrates Turbo Ring and Turbo Chain recovery (<20 ms with up to 250 switches), plus RSTP/STP support, ensuring high availability in factory and railway networks. Advanced features include IEEE 802.1Q VLAN, port-based VLAN,quality of serviceS, IGMP snooping, RMON, SNMPv1/v2c/v3, bandwidth control, and port mirroring, providing operators with granular control over network behaviour.

With web, CLI, Telnet, serial console, and MXstudio integration, configuration and diagnostics are straightforward. Alarm relay output and event notification add further operational assurance.

The rugged IP30 metal housing supports DIN-rail or wall mounting, with models available in standard -10 to 60°C and wide temperature -40 to 75°C versions. Compliance includes UL 508, EN 62368-1, EN 50121-4 railway, NEMA TS2 traffic control, ATEX/IECEx hazardous locations, and maritime DNV/LR/ABS certification, making them suitable for diverse industrial applications.

With a 5-year warranty and MTBF exceeding 1.2 million hours, the EDS-408A provides dependable, cost-effective managed Ethernet for long-term deployment.

RMA

In order to process returned goods, Impulse Embedded Limited uses an internal RMA system. Before returning goods for any reason, please contact Impulse Embedded Limited (returns@impulse-embedded.co.uk) to request an RMA number. Please confirm the reason for the return of the goods, providing the Serial Number, Product Code, and Impulse Embedded Limited Invoice Number (if known).

When returning goods, please ensure they are suitably packed so as to avoid damage, are in the original packaging, along with all accessories, with the outer packaging marked with the RMA number. It is recommended that you use a signed delivery service, as goods lost in transit are not the responsibility of Impulse Embedded Limited.

Please do not write the RMA number on the goods or on the original packaging. Impulse Embedded Limited may refuse returned goods and return them if they arrive without an RMA number, or not in the original packaging.
