The NPort 5650-8-DT-G2-T is a wide-temperature 8-port serial device server for applications that need flexible RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 connectivity in demanding environments. It enables multiple serial devices to be networked over Ethernet, allowing existing field equipment to be accessed, managed and monitored from IP-based systems. With support for operation from -40°C to 75°C, this model is suitable for harsher industrial, transport, utility and remote infrastructure deployments.

The device includes eight DB9 male serial ports and two 10/100/1000M RJ45 Ethernet ports. Its Ethernet ports support auto-sensing operation and include built-in 1.5 kV magnetic isolation protection, helping to improve communication reliability where electrical interference may be present. The serial interface supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485, making the unit suitable for mixed serial environments where different device types need to be connected through a single networked gateway.

Serial communication options include baud rates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps, non-standard baud rate support, multiple data bit, stop bit and parity settings, and flow control options including RTS/CTS, DTR/DSR and XON/XOFF. RS-485 support includes automatic data direction control, 120 ohm termination and pull high/low resistor options, helping reduce configuration complexity for multidrop serial networks.

The NPort 5650-8-DT-G2-T supports Real COM, TCP Client, TCP Server, UDP, RFC2217 and Pair Connection modes, along with secure operation modes for encrypted communication. Secure Boot, HTTPS, SNMPv3, role-based authentication and strong encryption options provide a stronger security base for industrial networks. One-click log collection and application analysis help accelerate troubleshooting, while the built-in watchdog timer, buzzer and real-time clock support reliable operation. With 12 to 48 VDC input, reverse polarity protection and a compact metal desktop enclosure, this model is ideal for flexible wide-temperature serial networking.
