The NPort 5650-8-DTS-J-G2 is a slim 8-port serial device server designed to connect RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 devices to an Ethernet network from a compact desktop platform. It is well suited to applications where flexible serial support is required but available installation space is limited. Typical uses include industrial automation, data acquisition, equipment monitoring, control systems, building automation and remote serial device access.

This model provides eight serial ports using 10-pin RJ50 connectors and supports RS-232, RS-422 and RS-485 communication. It also includes two 10/100/1000M RJ45 Ethernet ports with auto-sensing support and built-in 1.5 kV magnetic isolation protection. Its DTS chassis measures 210 x 95 x 25 mm without ears, providing a slim form factor while retaining the capabilities needed for multi-device serial networking.

The serial interface supports baud rates from 50 bps to 921.6 kbps, including non-standard baud rates. Users can configure data bits, stop bits, parity and flow control to match different serial devices. RS-485 support includes automatic data direction control, 120 ohm termination and pull high/low resistor options, helping simplify multidrop RS-485 deployments.

The NPort 5650-8-DTS-J-G2 supports Real COM, TCP Client, TCP Server, UDP, RFC2217 and Pair Connection operation modes. Secure operation modes are also available for encrypted communication, supported by features such as Secure Boot, HTTPS, SNMPv3, role-based access control, strong encryption and certificate signing support. One-click log collection and application analysis assist with commissioning and troubleshooting, helping integrators capture useful diagnostic information quickly. With metal housing, 12 to 48 VDC input, reverse polarity protection, desktop installation, wall mounting and optional DIN-rail mounting, this model is a compact and versatile serial-to-Ethernet server for standard temperature environments from -10°C to 60°C.
