The MOXA NPort 6650I-8-2AC-G2 is an 8-port isolated RS-232/422/485 secure terminal server that combines electrical protection with the 2AC package variant for deployment flexibility. The key differentiator is its 2 kV isolation, which makes it particularly suitable for industrial automation, power-related systems, distributed machine networks, remote I/O integration, and noisy factory environments where non-isolated serial servers may be more vulnerable to interference or ground-potential differences. With 8 ports, 2 included power cables, and a -10 to 60°C standard operating range, it is aimed at smaller indoor or sheltered industrial installations that still require stronger signal-side resilience.
Compared with the 6650I-8-G2, the main difference is the 2AC package configuration. Compared with the 6650I-16-2AC-G2, it is the better fit for lower device counts and more compact cabinets. Compared with the non-isolated 6650-8-2AC-G2, its added 2 kV isolation is the major value point. It also shares the G2 family’s security strengths, including Secure Boot, HTTPS with TLS 1.2/1.3, SSHv2, SNMPv3, local database or central authentication through RADIUS and TACACS+, and IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 certification. For organisations that need a compact, mixed-serial, electrically hardened terminal server with the convenience of the 2AC package, the NPort 6650I-8-2AC-G2 is a strong option.

Wireless Solution Saves Time and Reduces Overheads for OT Machinery Monitoring Project
Our customer was looking for ways to improve efficiency and reliability, and reduce operation costs and overheads for their manufacturing facility. The initial step in this transformation was to add additional monitoring and measurements to several areas of their facility to allow the collection of usage data from older machinery for analysis. The machinery to be analysed would be located in many areas of the complex, with some sitting in concrete outbuildings far from the source of the main network.
