The MOXA NPort 6650I-8-G2 is an 8-port isolated secure terminal server for industrial applications where flexible serial support is needed alongside stronger electrical protection between connected equipment and the network. Like other 6650 models, it supports RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485, but the key difference is the addition of 2 kV isolation, which makes it especially suitable for electrically noisy environments and systems where grounding issues, surges, or field-side interference are a concern. This makes it a smart choice for factory automation, power systems, water and wastewater sites, industrial machinery, telemetry, and infrastructure deployments where serial devices may be spread across equipment with different ground potentials. With 8 ports, 1 included power cable, and a -10 to 60°C operating range, it is aimed at standard-temperature installations that still require more robust serial-side protection than non-isolated terminal servers provide. 

Compared with the 6650-8-G2, the headline difference is the added 2 kV isolation, which improves suitability for challenging electrical environments. Compared with the 6650I-16-G2, it is more compact and better matched to smaller device groups. Compared with the 6650I-8-G2-T, it is the standard-temperature rather than wide-temperature option. It still includes the wider G2 family feature set, such as Secure Boot, TLS 1.2/1.3, SSHv2, SNMPv3, RADIUS, TACACS+, and IEC 62443-4-2 Security Level 2 certification, helping it serve both electrical protection and cyber-security requirements at the same time. For projects that need secure Ethernet integration of mixed serial devices in electrically harsh but temperature-controlled environments, the NPort 6650I-8-G2 is an excellent candidate.
